Welcome to Amaranth Counselling
Counselling and Psychotherapy in Edinburgh and East Lothian
My name is Mary O’Neill and I am a BACP accredited counsellor and I run a private counselling practice Amaranth Counselling, based in Cockenzie East Lothian.
When you face a crisis in your life and feel that you have nowhere to turn and you need to speak to someone, then I believe counselling has much to offer.
Friends and family are a great means of support and sometimes that is enough to get you through your difficulty. However they get so worried and involved with you, that you might hold things back because you don’t want to cause them upset.
What I offer as your counsellor is a chance for you to talk about those things that you feel unable to discuss with a friend or family. I will not avoid asking pertinent questions and will help you to explore your options. Unlike a chat with a close friend, I am there to listen without telling you what to do and without offering advice.
I believe that you know what is best for you and it is my job to help you achieve your goals; it can be an empowering moment when you realise that you hold the answer to your problems and that you know what is best for you.
Here are some of the issues I can help you resolve at Amaranth Counselling:
- Relationship Difficulties
- Stress in the work place
- Anger Management
- Depression and Anxiety
- Bereavement
- Eating disorders
- Trauma and Abuse
Counselling is offered on a short term and long term basis to both individuals and couples. Sessions last 55 minutes; a free intial interview is offered to assess your needs and to agree a possible counselling contract.
It is also possible to make use of telephone counselling and (video) counselling via Skype. In these situations I prefer to meet with the client for the first and last sessions with the possibility of meeting at regular intervals (every 6 weeks but negotiable) for a check-in and a review
Location
Amaranth Counselling is situated in the Cockenzie Business Centre, Edinburgh Road, Cockenzie. For clients coming from Edinburgh the premises are easily accessed by a frequent bus service (Lothian buses number 26). If coming by car there is a car park and on-street parking. |
