About Me
My professional background is in Education and Academic research.
After gaining my PhD in Genetics I moved to Edinburgh where I worked as a research scientist in the field of Genetics. I now lecture part time at a further education college in Edinburgh.
I am aware that teaching and the academic world can be a stressful environments and I bring my knowledge and experience of that field to my work.
I was co-presenter of the workshop "Am I Really Ready for a Relationship?" aimed at single women and looked at what it meant to be single and how we might stop ourselves from finding a good relationship.
I have also presented a similar workshop "How to Date Effectively" for "Single Connection" in Edinburgh. These coaching workshops explored the dating process and included ideas on how to use dating resources such as the internet more effectively.
Why the name Amaranth?
The logo for Amaranth Counselling is the flower Amaranthus caudatus commonly known as “Love Lies Bleeding” The amaranth flower in ancient times was associated with healing and its name means immortal due to the long duration of its flowers. Personally I just liked the name.
