Making an Initial Contact with Amaranth Counselling

When you contact me, whether by phone, by post, through my website or by e-mail, I collect that information in order to reply with the information you need.
I record your request and my reply to help me keep track of enquiries to my website.
I may keep personally identifiable information associated with your message, such as your name and email address so as to be able to track my communications with you to provide a high quality service. If you do not become a client of Amaranth Counselling these contact details will be deleted.

Record Keeping

If you become a client with Amaranth Counselling, I will make notes of our work, these brief notes allow me to keep track of our work and to help me remember significiant issues. The information is annonymised (no full names) and coded, these notes are then stored in my secure office at home.Contact details such as phone numbers are held on my phone in the same coded format corresonding to the written notes and emails are held in secure email accounts.
I may share information with 3rd Parties, most frequently this would be a GP or perhaps another health professional. On these rare occasions it would be to ensure your health and safety and I would normally do this with your knowledge.
When counselling is finished I will delete contact details from my phone after one month (just in case you get in touch in that short period of time)
I hold onto the written records of our work for 7 years to comply with legal requirements should there ever be cause to hand records onto a legal source or medical source. Again those records are held in a secure office and are destroyed by shredding.

Information that I hold for Legal reasons

I am subject to the law like everyone else. Sometimes, I must process your information in order to comply with a statutory obligation.
For example, I may be required to give information to legal authorities if they so request or if they have the proper authorisation such as a search warrant or court order.
This may include your personal information.
